Remote Hook

Introduction

Precision Lift, Inc. is the distributor for remotely-operated (or pilot-operated) cargo hooks. The remote hook shown above is rated for a 6000 pound load and is the proper hook for a standard Heli-Basket. The hook (without the protective cage) weighs only 16.5 lbs and with the cage, weighs 27.5 lbs.

PURPOSE: The Remote Hook has been designed to engage, lift, transport and release external loads off a cable suspended from a helicopter. It is to be used as a Long Line Remote Hook!

PRODUCT FEATURES: The cargo hook is encased by a housing plate and a cover plate bolted together. The internal parts are made of high quality steels that have been heat treated and plated. The toggle mechanism assures the positive lock of the hook, and an amplification of opening forces.

The adjustable clock spring allows the load beam to be returned automatically. The stainless steel spring is fully protected from the elements and hazardous snags by a cap that is tapered and fastened on by four screws. The tension can be increased or decreased as required.

The load beam with oversized throat will accommodate up to 8 eye chokers, 5/8 inches in diameter. Throat opening is 1.4" (35mm). For easy service the solenoid is removable. There is no need to take the unit apart. Removing the solenoid cover, the solenoid can be changed.

Releasing loads can be performed manually (manual release knob), or electrically (solenoid).

DESIGN FEATURES: The cargo hook contains only five moving parts. Fewer parts mean less down time and reduced maintenance costs.

Due to the simplified design and parts replacement, the remote-controlled hook is easy to service and repair during field maintenance.

RELEASE : ELECTRICAL

Electrical releases are accomplished by supplying 22 to 28 V DC to a rotary solenoid. At 1/20 continuous duty, this unit has a gross available torque of 6.9 in-lbs.

MECHANICAL (GROUND RELEASE)

It is possible to release loads to the rated capacity of 6000 lbs. by turning the Manual Release Knob. However, it is strongly recommended that if an operator does this, he makes sure that he is not in the path of the load when it falls.
