Specifications for the Reconn-Decon Module
Precision Lift, Inc., in consultation with the Reeves Group, designed a Reconn-Decon Module for Civil Support Teams. The module has the
following components:
- Heli-Basket® Transport System, sized to hold a 6-wheel utility vehicle and the slip-on Decontamination Unit. The Heli-Basket Transport System consists of:
- Slip-On Decontamination Unit
- The combination water tank and holding tank is inserted as a slip-on unit onto the floor of the Heli-Basket. Each tank holds 50 gallons. The two compartment tank is made of thick polypropylene and is covered with a thick diamond-finish aluminum plate to help distribute the weight of the utility vehicle.
- Containment tray on floor of Heli-Basket. The containment tray sits on the aluminum plate and combination water tank/holding tank and covers the floor of the Heli-Basket. It has a drain fitting in the center which connects with the holding tank underneath. Waste water from washing the utility vehicle and decontamination solution flow down into the holding tank. The sides of the containment tray are moderately stiff, but flexible enough so that one end folds down and the utility vehicle can be driven in and out of the tray when it is in the Heli-Basket. Snap fasteners are installed along the sides of the containment tray to attach the shower curtains.
- Shower curtains made of thick, flexible, clear plastic allow a good view of the utility vehicle inside the Heli-Basket during washing, rinsing, and decontamination operations. The curtains attach to the frame of the Heli-Basket and the top of the containment tray.
- Washer and Foam or Solution Applicator. Primary power for the washer is compressed air in tanks on the utility vehicle with an electric pump, powered by the utility vehicle, as back-up system. Water from the water tank beneath the floor is used to wash the utility vehicle. A 3 foot wand with swivel joint for the nozzle allows the underside of the utility vehicle to be washed. Decontamination foam is then applied to the utility vehicle using a foam proportioner.
- Heavy-duty wagon to carry Heli-Basket with fully-loaded utility vehicle. The wagon permits the
Reconn-Decon Module to be stored in the hanger ready-to-go, but out-of-the way, and then
when needed to be wheeled out onto the tarmac. Ribs under the Heli-Basket have sufficient
clearance to allow a fork lift to load the Heli-Basket and utility vehicle onto the cart.
- 6-wheel utility vehicle. (Ordered separately.)
- Chemical Response Kit
- Biological Sampling Kit
